Oklahoma’s own ArtBeat Magazine is celebrating its first birthday this year in style. This Saturday, March 20th, check out the official ArtBeat Unbirthday Party. What is an Unbirthday Party exactly? That’s what I asked myself. Though it should go without saying, this is an obvious homage to Lewis Carroll, inspired by the recently released adaptation of Alice In Wonderland by Tim Burton. So this Saturday night, starting at 8pm, go to the Nightingale for a truly one-of-a-kind event. For starters, this is a costume party…yes, a costume party. You come in costume, you get in the party for free. As the Nightingale is transformed into Wonderland for one night, you can check out local artwork (juried by Ken Busby, Janet Edwards, and Steve Cluck), watch some improv and dancing, and interact with characters throughout the evening. Event organizer Joy Scoggin says, “We have all kinds of artists joining creative forces here: visual, language, performance, architectural, craft… it’s definitely going to be a unique experience.” So to all of you out there who say there’s never anything to do in Tulsa, I say…“Really?” This is just one of many must-see events we’ll be bringing to you.

So, to recap: THIS Saturday night, Nightingale Theater (1416 E 4th St), you (in costume) with hundreds of fellow Oklahoma artists, art lovers, partygoers, and…well…anyone else who comes out to Wonderland.
